Hami lacrosse welcomes new coaches

This year we are happy to welcome 4 new coaches to Hamilton Lacrosse family this season. The boys program will have two new assistant coaches joining the staff of head coach Judson Stone: coach Craig French and coach Larry Turkheimer.

Craig is originally from Commack, New York where he played his high school lacrosse at  Commack HS and was a four year starter, a two-time Varsity Captain, the 1997 Suffolk County Rookie of the Year and a three-time All-County Selection. He went on to play college lacrosse at the University of Denver and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Since graduating from college, Craig has coached at the youth, club and high school level with programs such as Santa Monica Youth Lacrosse, 3D Los Angeles, the LaSalle Military Academy and Peninsula High School. Craig brings over two decades of impressive playing and coaching experience to Hamilton Lacrosse.

Larry played his high school lacrosse at  Wantagh HS on Long Island, New York where he was a two year all league selection and first team All South Shore. He went on to play lacrosse at one of the top “lacrosse institutions” in the nation, the University of North Carolina. While at NC, Larry was a four year starter, an Honorable Mention All American (1979), First Team All ACC and a Member of the 1979 North South team. In addition, Larry is a nationally recognized coach, administrator, referee and force behind the Israel National lacrosse team that finished  in 7th place at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships.

The girls program welcomes new head Katie Felber and assistant coach Rylan Homsheid.

Kate was the first girls HS lacrosse player in Los Angeles – and one of the best.  Katie was awarded a full scholarship to play Div I lacrosse at UC Berkeley (the first ever Women’s NCAA Div I player from Los Angeles or Orange County). Before coming to Hamilton, she coached at her alma mater Agoura High School and took them to the LA County Championship.  Katie has previously been involved in the formative stages of the Yankee Lacrosse program.  She ran several of the our development clinics in 2014.

Rylan played high school lacrosse for one of the nation’s top ranked HS teams, Avon Old Farms in Connecticut. Coincidently, this is the same school that Judson Stone, our Boys Head coach, attended 10 years earlier. Rylan has a passion for coaching and a great understanding of the game.

Assistant coach Cheyenne Cockrell (girls) and assistant coach Mitch Fenton (boys) are both returning.
